About the Role

William Blair is seeking to hire an Investment Banking Analyst to execute in-depth analyses, perform research and financial modeling, and support transaction execution. This role involves working closely with clients, presenting findings, and mentoring junior team members.

Responsibilities

• Perform extensive financial/valuation analyses to value debt and equity for mergers, acquisitions, and capital raising transactions.
• Build financial models to value potential and actual clients and/or industries using comparable companies, precedents, and discounted cash flow methods.
• Perform due diligence, research, analysis, and documentation of potential and live transactions, escalating potential deal issues.
• Draft management presentations to highlight financial analysis and research results.
• Assist in the development, production, and delivery of proposals and presentations to clients and prospects.
• Draft marketing materials emphasizing William Blair's advantages and investment banking approach.
• Participate in client meetings and drafting sessions.
• Research industries or sectors to target specific clients or industries, evaluating and improving content, and leveraging learnings across deals.
• Seek opportunities to streamline processes and propose solutions for increased efficiency.
• Support client relationship development by understanding client needs, providing responsive service, and anticipating information requirements.
• Develop an understanding of macro factors related to client industries, investment banking products, and potential implications.
• Mentor summer interns and invest in teaching subsequent classes of analysts, imparting best practices.
• Ensure all activities comply with applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as requested.

Requirements

• Internship or prior work experience in the financial services industry (ideally M&A) is essential.
• Proven track record in university studies.
• Detail oriented with strong analytical abilities.
• Excellent mathematical, writing, verbal, and computer skills.
• Ability to adapt to new tasks with little notice.
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong desire to win.
• Developing increasingly sound judgment.
• Thorough understanding of accounting and finance.
