About the Role
The Attorney General is seeking applications for appointment as a Judge of the District Court of NSW to sit in the civil jurisdiction. The District Court is Australia's busiest intermediate trial court, handling a wide variety of civil matters.
Responsibilities
- Hear interlocutory disputes and final hearings.
- Manage a varied and extensive workload, including setting and meeting time priorities for written judgments.
- Participate in ongoing judicial education.
- Undertake short regional civil sittings when required.
Requirements
- Current or former judicial officers or Australian lawyers of at least seven years’ standing.
- Extensive experience and proficiency in civil litigation in the District Court or the Supreme Court/Federal Court, including in building and construction, commercial, and torts areas.
- Ability to work under pressure.
