About the Role
This role requires the candidate to be Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, utilizing their lived experience, cultural knowledge, and community connections to provide trauma and violence-informed support to clients of the Children’s Civil Law Service. The Senior Caseworker will deliver culturally safe, holistic support, assisting clients in navigating legal and non-legal systems and accessing essential services.
Responsibilities
- Deliver culturally appropriate, rights-based casework support to help clients access essential services and navigate systemic barriers.
- Provide services to clients in a range of settings, including court, Youth Koori Court, and community-based contexts.
- Conduct assessments and prepare reports, support letters, and other documentation for legal and non-legal settings, including courts and tribunals.
- Collaborate with solicitors and other professionals to provide holistic, integrated support to clients.
- Build and maintain stakeholder relationships to facilitate referrals, wraparound support, and integrated service delivery.
- Contribute to capacity building, systemic advocacy, and law reform initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records in line with organisational policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Applicants must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and be accepted in the community as such.
- Must hold Australian or NZ citizenship or Australian Permanent Residency.
- Willing to undertake relevant pre-employment checks such as Working with Children Check, Criminal Record Check, and Conduct Service Check.
- Possess a minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
- Be eligible for professional registration (e.g. AASW or Psychology Board).
