About the Role

The Mission Test and Operations team is responsible for mission execution, proving readiness on the ground, and guiding spacecraft to the Moon. As a Senior Mission Operations Engineer, you will manage operational preparations and certify as a Flight Director, overseeing activities from the design phase through to decommissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Author and validate mission-critical flight products including checklists, procedures, scripts, telemetry displays, and alarms
  • Develop operational workflows and processes
  • Design concepts of operations, requirements, and subsystem manuals in coordination with design engineers
  • Identify flight and console rules to enforce operational safety
  • Create training materials and evaluate crew performance via simulations
  • Execute rehearsals to validate mission requirements and operational readiness
  • Collaborate on mission scenario testing using the test-as-we-fly principle
  • Test and validate the flight segment through system-level test campaigns
  • Operate the spacecraft on-console in a fast-paced environment, including 24/7 shift work and on-call duties
  • Lead real-time anomaly resolution and coordinate root-cause analysis under time constraints

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience executing complex operations in the aerospace field
  • Professional level English proficiency
  • Deep technical understanding of at least one subsystem such as Propulsion, Thermal, Flight Software, GN&C, Systems, Flight Dynamics, or Communications
  • Demonstrated proficiency in writing technical documents for mission-critical systems
  • Must be able to relocate to Japan
  • Prioritization given to candidates currently in Japan with a valid working visa
