About the Role
As a Senior Mission Operations Engineer, you will bridge the gap between system testing and real-time operations, driving a "Test-As-You-Fly" philosophy to ensure tests are representative of operations. You will follow the mission lifecycle to touchdown by conducting test campaigns, mitigating operational risk, and commanding procedures from the Mission Control Center.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system test campaigns.
- Translate mission scenarios into representative tests.
- Propose and implement novel tests to characterize spacecraft behavior.
- Architect and optimize the avionics testbench for flight-like testing.
- Contribute to the creation of test specifications, procedures, and reports.
- Direct the execution of rigorous software and hardware system test campaigns.
- Close the Verification and Validation (V&V) loop by linking high-level requirements to empirical test results.
- Develop flight procedures for test and operations.
- Align training, rehearsal, and system verification test campaigns.
- Operate the spacecraft on-console in a fast-paced environment to execute a lunar mission from the Mission Control Center.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience with a proven track record executing complex test campaigns and/or operations.
- Experience working with avionics testbenches, hardware-in-the-loop infrastructure, or mixed hardware-software configurations.
- Demonstrated proficiency in writing detailed test specifications and reports for mission or project critical systems.
Skills
- Professional Level English (written and verbal communication)
- Familiarity with Mission Control Software (Yamcs, Grafana, SFTP)
- Proficiency in software configuration control tools (Git, Gitlab)
- Scripting test automation (Python)
- Experience with component level testing, System Verification Tests (SVT), Day-in-the-life (DITL) testing, or pre-launch verification
- Background in lunar, deep-space, or planetary missions, particularly in the verification and operations phases
