About the Role

STV is seeking a Senior Project Architect to join our team in New York, NY, to work on innovative transportation and transit projects. You will coordinate architectural/engineering teams, develop designs, and prepare documents throughout the project life cycle, collaborating with various disciplines, clients, and consultants.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate architectural/engineering teams in developing designs and preparing documents for transportation projects, especially transit.
  • Support projects from initial design phases through detailed construction document phase.
  • Interface and collaborate with various disciplines, clients, and consultants.
  • Prepare Architectural plans or supervise their execution.
  • Perform analysis of design and construction systems, planning studies, design layouts, and construction details.
  • Oversee research used in writing specifications, including coordinating with manufacturers.
  • Conduct site and construction inspections for information-gathering purposes and prepare interpretive reports.
  • Execute code analysis, material selections, and technical solutions.
  • Develop design layouts and construction features, requiring research, compilation, and recording of information.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines.
  • Plan, schedule, coordinate, manage, and oversee work.
  • Determine the technical approach and design criteria for projects with multiple design disciplines.
  • Lead and coach architectural staff.
  • Perform independent investigations, studies, and architectural analysis.
  • Develop design details, plans, and specifications.
  • Serve as quality control reviewer.
  • Use computer software as a design tool for solving complex architectural problems.
  • Contribute new designs or techniques of material significance to problem solutions.
  • Remain current in codes and technologies appropriate to the architecture discipline, including IBC, NFPA, etc.
  • Ensure conformance with standards, established architectural practices, applicable codes, and technical adequacy of design and construction.
  • Perform Construction Administration activities, including review of shop drawings and Requests for Information (RFIs).

Requirements

  • Professional Degree in Architecture (M. Arch preferred).
  • Minimum of 12+ years of experience as a project architect working within the rail/transit sector.
  • Experience in the transportation sector is required.
  • Transit Architecture design experience including station and related facilities is required.
  • Registered Licensed Architect in the State of New York is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Experience with OpenBuildings, Rhino, 3-D Max, Sketch-up, and LEED Accreditation is a plus.
  • Excellent design, technical detailing, and strong presentation skills, both verbal and visual, are essential.
  • The candidate should be a self-starter with a passion for problem-solving, an understanding that project success comes through teamwork, and a firm focus on client needs.
