About the Role

The Industry Solutions Engineering (ISE) team is a global engineering organization that works directly with customers to leverage the latest technologies and address their toughest challenges. We collaborate with customers' engineers to jointly develop code for cloud-based solutions that accelerate their organization. We work in collaboration with Microsoft product teams, partners, and open-source communities to empower customers to do more with the cloud. This role involves developing broadly applicable, high-impact solution patterns and open-source software assets that contribute to the Microsoft platform.

Responsibilities

  • Works with stakeholders to determine user requirements for features.
  • Contributes to identifying dependencies and developing design documents for a product area with minimal oversight.
  • Creates and implements code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code where applicable.
  • Contributes to breaking down larger work items into smaller ones and provides estimations.
  • Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) working on-call to monitor system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions and gains approval to restore system/product/service for simple problems.
  • Stays current in skills by investing time and effort into staying abreast of current developments that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • Microsoft is unable to sponsor a work visa for this role due to the nature of the role’s job duties.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science OR related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • Comfortable with travel up to 25%.

  • USD $102,100 - $202,200 per year (U.S. typical base pay)
  • USD $133,800 - $219,200 per year (San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area)
