About the Role
Sierra is building a platform to help businesses create better customer experiences using AI. This role is for a Strategic Finance Lead who will translate strategy into financial plans, measure performance, and build forecasts and budgets to guide leadership decisions. It's a high-ownership individual contributor position for someone who thrives in ambiguity and wants to shape how a high-growth AI company operates.
Responsibilities
- Develop and drive key components of financial planning and forecasting processes, including revenue, cost of sales, GTM, R&D, capex, and IDSW.
- Collaborate with Corporate FP&A to integrate forecasts into the consolidated financial plan, board reporting, and budget vs. actuals packages.
- Support the monthly and quarterly close cycle from an FP&A perspective, providing variance commentary.
- Develop and track the unit economics framework, including LTV, CAC, CAC payback, LTV:CAC, and contribution margin by segment.
- Deliver actionable insights by connecting revenue, cost, and unit economic trends.
- Build and own data pipelines and reporting frameworks for revenue and cost analytics.
- Develop repeatable processes, templates, and documentation, with a focus on automation and an AI-native approach.
- Drive cross-functional alignment on goals, build stakeholder buy-in, and enable effective decision-making.
Requirements
- 8+ years of total experience, including significant time in Strategic Finance, FP&A, or an investment role at a high-growth technology company.
- Exposure to investment banking, private equity, venture capital, or a similar analytical finance environment.
- Deep fluency in SaaS and ARR-based business models, including building ARR bridges, decomposing NRR, modeling cohort retention, and explaining unit economics.
- Direct experience building revenue models and customer analytics datasets in a SaaS or cloud business.
- Exceptional financial modeling skills, with the ability to build complex, multi-driver models from scratch in Google Sheets.
- Strong business partnership skills, capable of understanding business needs and translating them into financial frameworks.
- Proficiency in BI and data tools such as Hex, Omni, Looker, and SQL.
- A structured, self-directed, detail-oriented builder and problem solver with a bias for simplifying and automating processes.
- Passion for building an AI-native finance function.
