About the Role
This position plays a key part in ensuring the timely, accurate, and code-compliant delivery of multi-site retail projects from design development through construction. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who thrives in fast-paced environments and is committed to design consistency, technical accuracy, and cross-team coordination.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the Project Manager and help guide designers in producing and issuing accurate sets of construction documents as well as other required client deliverables
- Coordinate with landlords, MEP, and Structural consultant teams to ensure complete and timely project delivery
- Lead, mentor, and train junior Designers
- Research, review, and implement CBC & IBC codes
- Address plan check comments from local jurisdictions
- Issue construction documents for bid and permit
- Perform site surveys & punch walks
- Perform job site visits to review the progress of construction; prepare and issue field reports
- Participate in various aspects of construction administration; respond to RFIs, revise drawings based on RFIs, bulletins, and addenda, and review submittments
- Travel may be required
Requirements
- Degree in Architecture or equivalent experience
- Experience with retail rollout or multi-site commercial projects, including site adaptation of prototypical designs
- Proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam
- Working knowledge of SketchUp and Photoshop is a plus
- Strong understanding of building codes, especially IBC, CBC, and ADA, with the ability to apply them effectively to drawing sets
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience leading coordination efforts with clients, consultants, and team members
