About the Role
The Marketing & Communications Student Assistant provides day-to-day operational support to GGU's External Affairs team. This role is ideal for a current GGU student seeking hands-on experience in higher education marketing and communications.
Responsibilities
- Process and fulfill website update requests, ensuring accuracy and timely turnaround.
- Provide general administrative and production support to the External Affairs Coordinator and MarCom team.
- Support the production of marketing materials, event collateral, and internal communications.
- Assist with basic content tasks such as proofreading, formatting, and organizing digital assets.
- Help maintain organized digital files and records for the department.
- Assist with maintaining accurate records of constituent communications and engagement activity.
- Help track and report on communications metrics and engagement outcomes.
- Assist with routine data entry and updates to communications or constituent records.
- Provide light social media or content support as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Current enrollment in a degree-seeking program at Golden Gate University.
- No prior professional experience required; coursework or interest in marketing, communications, or a related field is a plus.
- Must be enrolled full-time and maintain eligibility under GGU's student employment policies.
- Must be available to work on campus as needed for event support.
- Must have authorization to work in the United States and not require sponsorship.
- Candidates sign a consent authorizing a broader inquiry which may include reference checks, a motor vehicle check, and a third-party background check.
Skills
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Reliable and able to manage a consistent weekly schedule around coursework.
- Comfortable learning new tools and systems with guidance.
- Good written communication skills.
- Basic web content management systems knowledge, or willingness to learn.
- General office software and file organization practices.
