About the Role

The Hampton Inn Western Ave is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to perform repairs and preventative maintenance, ensuring a safe, attractive, and efficiently operated hotel. This role involves maintaining suites, exterior property, and grounds to high standards.

Responsibilities

• Completes maintenance requests in a timely manner.
• Works on improvement projects and preventative maintenance programs.
• Performs Suite Care to maintain suites for guest satisfaction.
• Performs exterior property maintenance, including carpentry repair and painting.
• Practices safety by removing/correcting identified hazards.
• Is on call for emergency rotation and works closely with housekeeping.
• Maintains high standards of personal appearance and grooming.
• Maintains a professional and friendly demeanor.
• Is attentive, courteous, and efficient when dealing with guests and staff.
• Establishes and maintains good communication and teamwork with colleagues.
• Communicates with the Housekeeping Manager and other employees on property maintenance issues.
• Communicates with other hotel staff to accommodate special guest requests.
• Complies with compliance standards and regulations for safe and efficient hotel operations.
• Maintains the physical structure and grounds of the hotel property in excellent condition, including landscaping, walkways, pool area, and sport courts.
• Assigns or handles maintenance requests, improvement projects, and develops preventative maintenance programs.
• Uses two-way radios, telephones, general office equipment, and various maintenance equipment.
• Follows compliance with company standards, safety rules, and health and sanitation regulations.

Requirements

• Previous hotel or related field maintenance experience is required.
• A working ability with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry is needed.
• Formal training in at least one of these disciplines is preferred.
• English skills are required.
• Must meet all state and local age and licensing requirements for operating tools, torches, chemicals, and driving the hotel van.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Long and flexible hours are sometimes required.
• Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly.
• Ability to stand during the entire shift.
• Ability to reach overhead, utilize both hands, bend over, stoop, and kneel.
• Must be capable of climbing and descending stairs during their shift.
• Must be able to understand and follow directions, guidelines, and work objectives.
• Must be able to understand potential hazards and procedures for working with commercial chemicals and machinery.
• Must use common sense and integrity in ensuring the security of guest belongings.
• Must be able to work in a self-managed and self-directed environment.
• Must be effective in handling workplace problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving them.
