About the Role
The Sanitation Technician is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing processing and packaging equipment.
Responsibilities
- Clean bakery equipment, roof, fans, ceilings, walls and floors using specific procedures.
- Follow specific instructions to clean flour handling equipment.
- Perform all responsibilities following established GMP, Food Safety, and Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Keep accurate records of cleaning performed.
- Inspect areas requiring attention.
- Keep Area Leader/Supervisor informed of any unsanitary practices that may be occurring in the plant.
- Follow sanitation procedures during changeovers.
- Create a continuous improvement environment by improving products, service, and processes to reduce waste and strive for efficiency and profitability.
- Perform duties assigned from the Master Cleaning Schedule.
- Perform daily and down day assignments as scheduled by supervision.
- Assist and train other associates as required by Supervision.
Requirements
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
- Minor assembly and disassembly, machine setup and troubleshooting skills are required.
- Able to work independently and contribute to team success.
- Good verbal communication and understanding of written materials (SOPs, training documents).
- Able to manage multiple tasks and coordinate work with team members.
- Demonstrates problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Flexibility to work occasional weekend shifts and overtime.
- Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds, stack, and/or carry pans, ingredient containers, etc.
- Frequent standing and/or stoop for the full shift and able to climb ladders.
- Ability to work with strong chemicals.
- Frequent exposure to noise and dust in a warehouse environment.
- Ability to work in high places and/or tight spaces.
- Ability to work near or around machinery.
