About the Role

Mercury is building a banking-grade lending business where credit extends the trust businesses already place in us to hold and move their money. We need a leader to turn that foundation into a thriving, responsibly-scaled business. You will own Mercury's lending business end-to-end, defining product strategy, leading a team, driving growth, and owning business performance and P&L outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Own the business lending P&L and strategy, including product roadmap, target segments, and origination growth against economic and credit targets.
  • Build and scale the lending organization by recruiting, developing, and leading a high-performing PM team.
  • Launch and grow lending products from 0-1 to scale, including term loans, lines of credit, and future offerings.
  • Partner with credit, underwriting, and risk teams on credit policy, underwriting models, and eligibility.
  • Manage capital and lending partners, ensuring the business is well-capitalized and structured for scale.
  • Balance growth with rigor by meeting credit, risk, and compliance standards while maintaining a positive customer experience.
  • Align the lending ecosystem, including product, engineering, underwriting, risk, data, compliance, legal, marketing, sales, support, and external partners.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to build and scale a business lending organization with strong product, commercial, and credit discipline.
  • Credibility with finance, credit policy, and product strategy stakeholders.
  • 10+ years in lending or credit products, with significant experience in SMB, commercial, or business lending.
  • 5+ years leading and managing teams of product managers, including hiring, coaching, organizational design, and performance management.
  • Deep understanding of the full lending lifecycle, including credit, risk, and compliance considerations.
  • Track record of owning a lending P&L and its key levers.
  • Experience launching and scaling 0-1 lending or credit products, preferably in fintech or high-growth environments.
  • Experience working with bank partners, lending partners, or capital markets.
  • Sound judgment in regulated, risk-sensitive environments, balancing customer experience with controls.
  • Data-driven, experimentation-oriented approach.
  • Exceptional cross-functional leadership skills.
