About the Role
Join the Festival Foods Team as a Part-Time Deli Clerk! We are seeking a Deli Clerk to join our team in our retail grocery store environment, where you'll play a crucial role in food preparation and guest service. At Festival Foods, we’re all about making mealtime easier and more enjoyable for our guests.
Responsibilities
- Providing excellent guest service.
- Help guests locate items on or off the sales floor and professionally answer the Deli Department telephone.
- Receive, prepare, and fulfill guest orders and special requests with attention to detail and quality.
- Address guest concerns and resolve issues promptly using the boomerang principle to ensure a positive experience.
- Inspect, rotate, maintain proper temperatures, and replenish all deli products on display to ensure high standards.
- Maintain proper inventory levels in the deli storage, including containers, lids, spoons, tags, and more.
- Lead by example in maintaining food safety logs and adhering to all safety standards.
- Ensure all quality standards, including quantity expectations, are met by 10 am and 5 pm daily.
- Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with guests and all personnel.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to quickly assess and resolve issues in a dynamic and stressful work environment, while supporting team members.
- Comprehensive understanding of safety requirements and company safety policies, including proper training on slicers, lifting techniques, trash compactors, and balers.
- Knowledge of the retail food business, perishable department operations, and merchandising skills, with the ability to make timely and effective decisions.
- Lifting up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Full range of upper body motion.
- Ability to work at a fast pace.
- May be exposed to extreme temperatures.
