About the Role
As a proactive and technical Pricing Actuary, you will be an integral part of the team delivering reinsurance terms to clients predominantly in the UK and Ireland. With a focus on Protection products (Life, CI & IP), you will work alongside junior and senior members of the team with direct responsibility for assumption setting and delivery of reinsurance responses. This role offers a challenging variety of work with a high degree of autonomy and responsibility, providing access to senior leadership and the opportunity to contribute visibly to the delivery of our strategy.
Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of pricing activities, ensuring profitable business acquisition and retention.
- Lead the technical pricing and sign-off process during tenders and reviews of inforce business.
- Manage the quote team and delegate effectively for timely delivery.
- Derive assumptions for opportunities with minimal guidance, including new benefits/risks or limited data scenarios, understanding key risk factors.
- Support marketing and business development by building and maintaining client relationships and promoting the business brand.
- Produce well-written reports with clear documentation and concise executive summaries.
- Constructively challenge current practices and continuously improve processes and documentation.
- Demonstrate and encourage pragmatism in pricing work.
- Coach junior team members and provide training to other team members.
- Manage stakeholders effectively throughout the end-to-end quote process.
- Balance technical and commercial considerations to assure stakeholders of pricing capability.
- Develop internal relationships within and across teams.
Requirements
- Qualified actuary with strong technical ability and pricing experience.
- Familiarity with the UK and / or Irish Protection markets.
- Experience with pricing tools such as Tyche, SQL, Tableau, R.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with pricing teams across regions.
- Ability to interpret and analyze data, apply judgment, and make clearly communicated decisions.
- Strong problem-solving and prioritization skills.
- Ability to balance judgment and detail while working to deadlines.
