About the Role

The Grants Manager will be responsible for researching, writing, and submitting grant proposals to various funders, including governmental agencies and foundations. This role requires strong writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with both internal stakeholders and external funders.

Responsibilities

  • Identify potential funding opportunities by researching grant-making organizations, foundations, and government agencies relevant to our mission and programs.
  • Prepare compelling, accurate, and well-structured grant proposals that align with funding requirements and organizational goals, ensuring all proposals meet deadlines.
  • Collaborate with finance and program staff to develop realistic budgets for grant proposals that reflect project needs and funder requirements.
  • Work with program staff and Grants Compliance Manager to prepare and submit timely reports to funders to ensure compliance with grant requirements.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with funders and partners, attending meetings and networking events to represent the organization.
  • Maintain an organized database of grant opportunities, proposals, and reports, tracking deadlines and submission statuses.

Requirements

  • Two or more years of demonstrated experience with research and writing.
  • Relevant experience may include: background in nonprofit, public policy, or journalism, experience with government grants, including federal funding and Texas state funding, experience in securing funding from foundations, government agencies, and corporate sponsors preferred, subject matter expertise in early childhood education, public health, coalition-building.
  • Strong analytical and research abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Experience with Salesforce and Asana a plus.
  • Strong project management skills: Demonstrated use of project management systems/tools preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience working with diverse teams.
  • An ability to work in a cross-functional, fast-paced work environment.
  • Interest in and commitment to United Way’s mission.
