About the Role

This field-based role requires executing brand strategy and tactics, managing assigned territory, building customer relationships, and solving customer needs to maximize sales performance while adhering to AbbVie's business code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws and regulations. The patient is central to all efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed goals.
  • Create pre-call plan objectives and execute post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance.
  • Effectively handle objections, misunderstandings, and concerns, consistently gaining calls to action to close on every sales call.
  • Proactively serve customer needs, expectations, and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, market segments/dynamics, accounts, disease, product, and clinical/sales expertise.
  • Share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team, and sales manager to achieve alignment and optimize brand strategy execution.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with assigned health providers.
  • Identify, develop, and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred, or relevant and equivalent industry experience required.
  • At least five (5) years of relevant and equivalent industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, with three (3) or more years of experience within the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred and a high school diploma/GED required.
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; recognized as an expert resource.
  • Strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools.
  • Possesses strategic and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Proactively identifies customer style/behavior and adapts selling approach.
  • Understands and leverages findings to develop sales strategies.
  • Proven track record of success in selling and solid presentation skills.
  • Operates effectively in a matrix environment.
  • Offers innovative ideas and solutions to maximize business opportunities and address challenges.
  • Provides impact with ideas for the larger organization and anticipates/responds to changes.
  • Influences others and is viewed as a credible and respected role model and resource.

  • Documented success in leadership and support roles of increased responsibility.
  • Proven track record of success in sales performance within respective therapeutic areas preferred.
  • Commercial pharmaceutical industry experience such as physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing preferred.
  • English language proficiency verbally and in writing (for all non-English speaking countries).
  • Must satisfy all applicable healthcare industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements.
  • Must be in good standing and/or eligible to obtain HCIR credentials.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test.
  • Meet safe driving requirements.
