About the Role
The Centralized Payroll Manager is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of payroll duties and reporting according to Highgate Hotels policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Processing weekly payrolls for multiple properties.
- Administering garnishments and tracking all returned or stopped garnishment payments.
- Processing live check reversals, direct deposit reversals, and tracking these through to completion.
- Researching payroll or payroll related items with little direction and presenting findings.
- Understanding basic payroll tax as it relates to the employee’s pay and their W2.
- Performing additional administrative duties as required.

- Maintaining an elevated level of confidentiality and trustworthiness.
- Working with and understanding financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions.
- Cross-training in other accounting or hotel-related areas.

- Utilizing and maintaining time and attendance systems to process payroll and related information.
- Reviewing and ensuring accuracy and appropriateness of all payroll input and output.
- Monitoring, preparing, and communicating financial reports in accordance with Highgate Hotel’s requirements meeting various due dates.
- Preparing tax reports and other regulatory reports as necessary.
- Monitoring and preparing deduction schedules and payments.
- Ensuring proper paycheck distribution for each department periodically.
- Maintaining a working knowledge of current payroll related laws and regulations.
- Preparing and inputting all required payroll journal entries.
- Informing supervisor of any unusual events and/or deviations of policies or procedures.
- Copying and distributing reports as necessary.
- Responding to governmental inquiries upon receipt.
- Monitoring and maintaining timekeeping equipment.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years payroll processing experience.
- Experience with Dayforce payroll systems is preferred.
- Payroll experience in a unionized environment is preferred.
- Strong ability to read and understand multiple collective bargaining agreements (e.g., IWA and Division A).
- Knowledge of Union Contributions Requirements and ability to assist Finance with accurate monthly calculations and other reporting related to payroll processing.
- Strong interpersonal, written communication, and organization skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and other programs.
- Extreme attention to detail, accuracy, and data integrity.
- Sense of urgency and ability to work within a fast-paced, multi-task environment.
- Ability to work flexible hours to meet critical deadlines when necessary.
- Ability to maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
- Effective communication skills, both verbally and written, with all levels of employees and guests.
