About the Role

The Buyer is responsible for all activities involved in the procurement of raw materials, finished goods, and services. Key considerations include quality, quantity, cost, pricing, and timely delivery to meet production schedules, ensure customer satisfaction, and uphold the company's reputation. This role involves identifying sources, interviewing vendors, maintaining records, and expediting as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate production with problem-solving and prevention.
  • Manage resource allocation (material and people).
  • Practice positive peer engagement and represent the department.
  • Communicate company goals to the supply base and ensure alignment.
  • Manage personal performance through goal setting.
  • Cultivate and foster company core values.
  • Maintain required supply base documentation and information.
  • Schedule resources, manage output, and report on activities.
  • Review and analyze requirements to ensure adequate supply at minimum investment.
  • Initiate material purchases based on production requirements and inventory policies.
  • Provide project status feedback as required.
  • Alert stakeholders to potential supply issues and document them.
  • Continuously improve procedures, processes, and methods to meet customer needs and organizational objectives.
  • Provide suggestions for improvement tools and techniques.
  • Follow a continual improvement culture and drive 5S and Safety initiatives.
  • Execute improvement tools and techniques for daily continual improvement.
  • Ensure employee safety and material quality throughout all processes.
  • Locate, understand, and stay aware of Quality Management System procedures and changes.
  • Ensure adherence to all procedures for quality outcomes and controls.
  • Manage compliance with safety procedures and ensure proper personal protective equipment usage.
  • Demonstrate initiative, a positive attitude, and enthusiasm.
  • Follow up with management on professional development goals and opportunities.
  • Express interest in growing with the company.
  • Continuously improve industry knowledge.
  • Work overtime as required.
  • Perform national and local travel, up to 5% of working time.

Requirements

  • High school GED, Associate's Degree, or Bachelor's Degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of on-the-job experience in lieu of formal education.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as required.
  • National travel may be required.
  • Local travel may be required.
  • Travel up to 5% of working time.
  • Must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  • Ability to obtain US government security clearance is desired.
