About the Role
Novelis North America (NNA) is seeking a Plant Controller to join the leadership team at its Oswego facility. This role manages plant controlling and internal controls, ensuring accurate financial results and providing essential information for business decisions. Responsibilities include forecasting, managing operational expenses, and overseeing capital project spend. The position reports to the Region Operations Controller.
Responsibilities
- Act as a key member of the plant management team, guiding non-financial personnel.
- Prepare and record monthly accounting entries and perform reconciliations to meet closing deadlines accurately.
- Generate plant financial reports, including monthly summaries for regional reporting and spending analysis for plant management.
- Prepare quarterly reports for corporate accounting.
- Develop and manage the plant's annual plan and quarterly forecasts.
- Monitor and report capital expenditures to plant and regional management.
- Oversee and coordinate accounting functions for sustaining and strategic capital projects, including financial justification preparation.
- Perform monthly and ad hoc variance analysis to identify financial performance improvement opportunities and discuss findings with senior management.
- Participate in cross-functional continuous improvement projects and integrated planning cycles.
- Ensure periodic fixed asset verification and maintain proper documentation.
- Periodically review internal processes for improvements in timeliness, accuracy, and efficiency, automating where feasible.
- Identify growth opportunities or training needs for staff development.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum 8 years of experience, with at least 3 years in management.
- Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.
- Cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to perform work accurately and independently.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex policies and guidelines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
- Excellent verbal, math, and writing skills.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship.
Skills
- SAP experience is a plus.
- Oracle experience is a plus.
- OneStream experience is a plus.
- Master’s degree is a plus.
- CPA/CMA is a plus.
