About the Role

The Vermont Agency of Transportation (AOT) is seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Civil Engineer to lead a team of engineers, technicians, and scientists within the Materials and Research Section. This position will be responsible for leading a program that ensures the quality of materials used on construction projects through testing and the development and review of technical specifications. Significant time will be spent supporting staff and providing high-level administrative and technical review, as well as developing and maintaining a strategic plan and budget for the unit.

Responsibilities

Maintaining AASHTO accreditation for the central laboratory in Berlin, by ensuring sufficient and qualified staffing and overseeing a budget
Ensuring quality and consistency between all materials labs
Advancing internal and external applied research
Developing and maintaining positive relationships with state and national materials producers

Requirements

Registration as a Professional Engineer
Ten (10) years of engineering experience
