About the Role
Monroe Ambulance is seeking a skilled Automotive Technician to perform repairs and maintenance on company and customer vehicles and mechanical equipment. This role is crucial for ensuring the fleet operates safely and efficiently within regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Observe mechanical devices in operation to watch and listen for causes of failure.
- Complete thorough documentation of all work performed, vehicle condition, parts needed, and scheduling.
- Diagnose electrical and computer control devices using appropriate testing equipment.
- Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts.
- Examine parts for imperfections and inspect used parts for dimensional changes.
- Repair or replace defective parts.
- Install special functional and structural parts in devices.
- Lubricate and clean parts.
- Test device performance by starting them.
- Set up and operate metalworking tools to make, repair, and rebuild parts.
- Repair electrical equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance on fleet vehicles on a scheduled basis.
- Complete fabrication work, including body work and painting.
- Perform road service calls to evaluate and repair failed vehicles and equipment, including occasional travel to Franklin County.
- Communicate vehicle status and estimated repair times to supervisors and dispatchers.
- Road test equipment and vehicles.
- Diagnose chronic repair problems and develop permanent resolution plans.
- Operate snow removal equipment.
- Perform minor building maintenance and equipment repair as needed.
Requirements
- Must have own tools.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License.
- Minimum of Two (2) years as an Automotive Technician.
- ASE Certified Technician (A1-A8) is preferred but not required.
- NYS Inspectors License is a plus.
- Technical skills for diagnosis, electrical, and mechanical repairs.
- Effective and professional communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Basic computer skills.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- One year certificate from college or technical school.
- Three to six months related experience and/or training.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and taste/smell.
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Salary/Compensations
- Starting at $25/hour
- On-call pay additional -$50/night during the week, $100/day on weekends
- 4hr minimum pay at your hourly/overtime rate if called in
