About the Role

GSG is seeking a Creative Director to lead visual and creative strategy across a diverse client portfolio, including corporate, advocacy, nonprofit, and public affairs. This role involves setting creative standards, managing a design team, and partnering with communications and account leads. The ideal candidate is a creative leader who excels at translating complex messages into bold, audience-ready creative and managing multiple priorities with precision.

Responsibilities

  • Set and maintain the overarching creative vision for client engagements, ensuring alignment with business objectives and GSG's standards.
  • Lead creative ideation sessions and generate bold concepts for visual narratives.
  • Develop storyboards, brand visuals, and integrated creative campaigns from concept to execution.
  • Produce expert-level creative deliverables across print, digital, social, video, and out-of-home formats.
  • Present creative strategies and finished work to clients and senior leadership.
  • Serve as the senior creative partner on client accounts and build trust-based relationships.
  • Lead strategic creative conversations with clients, acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Direct timelines, resources, and execution across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Identify opportunities to deepen client engagements through creative excellence.
  • Drive creative development for new business pitches, leading visual storytelling strategy.
  • Partner with leaders to elevate the creative quality of proposals and pitches.
  • Act as the creative engine in business development conversations and co-lead pitches.
  • Lead hiring and onboarding for creative roles and evaluate team performance.
  • Foster a culture of feedback, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the creative team.
  • Direct external freelancers and creative vendors.
  • Develop a working understanding of GSG's business operations and manage accounts for profitability.
  • Contribute to GSG's marketing and brand presence, including agency promotional materials and case studies.
  • Contribute to firm-wide initiatives and demonstrate emerging leadership.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of creative experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or director-level role at an agency or consulting firm.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and overseeing integrated creative campaigns across digital, social, paid media, print, and video.
  • Active hands-on practitioner who creates alongside the team; portfolio must include recent personal work demonstrating direct execution.
  • Strong creative vision and conceptual skills, with a portfolio reflecting work across multiple client types and industries.
  • Experience in strategic communications, public affairs, or creative work within highly regulated industries.
  • Exceptional presentation skills and ability to lead creative strategy conversations with senior leaders and clients.
  • Proven experience managing creative teams and directing freelancers or vendors.
  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple shifting priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Marketing, Communications, or a related field — or equivalent professional experience.
