About the Role

The Boat Business Assistant provides clerical support for all boat, motor, trailer, or ATV customer purchases within the Boat Department or at a Boat Dealership. This role supports customer service and assists in selling finance and insurance programs to increase dealer revenues.

Responsibilities

  • Supports a strong commitment to world-class customer service and ensures a pleasant and productive shopping experience for all customers.
  • Assists the Business/Sales Manager or Boat Manager in selling finance and insurance programs to increase dealer revenues.
  • Conducts or assists in customer closings and funding activities.
  • Coordinates all paperwork involved in the sale process, including creating and finalizing quotes, printing closing documents, entering customer deposits, and maintaining sales, finance, and/or commission logs.
  • Accounts for all monies received in the department and ensures the safekeeping of those funds.
  • Performs closing activities at the end of the day, including till reconciliation, batch detail reports, Daily Cash Reports, and bank deposit slip preparation.
  • Completes data entry into IDS of all activities associated with the sale.
  • Accurately posts all deals within 24 hours of delivery.
  • Organizes and processes MSOs by entering receipt into IDS, safeguarding documents, maintaining a filing system, and completing affidavits for duplicate MSO requests.
  • Answers multi-line phones in a timely, professional, and courteous manner.
  • Directs inbound calls to the appropriate associate or department and takes messages if the associate is unavailable.
  • Keeps the boat dealership stocked with necessary office supplies, including state/local title and registration paperwork.
  • Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and orders them on a timely basis.
  • Completes and files all required title work and associated documentation.
  • Prepares check requests as needed.
  • Maintains all documentation from manufacturers and warranty registers all products sold within manufacturer's specified timeframe requirements.
  • Performs other clerical tasks as required, including sending faxes, file preparation, and maintenance of customer files.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old to qualify for this position.

Skills

  • Ability to calculate figures, make change to customers and figure percentages
  • Ability to communicate in a friendly and professional manner to customers and other associates
  • Clerical / data entry skills preferably within the marine or auto industry
  • Good organizational abilities
  • Detail oriented
