About the Role

We are looking for a Service Technician / Electrician to join our team in Minto. This is a fantastic opportunity for an Electrician looking for something different from traditional sparky work, an experienced Generator Tech, or a motivated 3rd/4th Year Apprentice eager to learn a specialized, high-demand trade. No direct generator experience is required as we are happy to train the right person.

Responsibilities

  • Service, repair, and maintain diesel standby generator sets across Sydney and wider NSW.
  • Carry out fault-finding, diagnostics, and electrical repairs on units up to 4,000 kVA.
  • Support the testing and commissioning of new generator systems, transfer switches, and control gear.
  • Split time between field work (customer sites) and workshop work (testing and preparing new units).
  • Work independently on smaller service jobs and in pairs on testing, load banks, and larger commissioning.
  • Act as the face of the business on-site, dealing professionally with facilities managers, site contacts, and end-users.

Requirements

  • A current full Electrical Licence (or relevant limited/auto electrical licence) looking for a dynamic alternative to standard commercial or domestic work.
  • A 3rd or 4th-year electrical apprentice who is close to qualifying and has a strong work ethic.
  • Someone who already knows their way around generators, engines, or heavy plant diagnostics and wants a step up.
  • A valid Australian driver’s licence and comfort driving a service ute.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics/wiring diagrams and work through faults logically (or a clear appetite to learn quickly).
  • A customer-service mindset.
  • A responsible, reliable attitude with a maturity to work independently when required.
  • Hands-on technicians, comfortable around large machinery or heavy equipment, and eager to learn.
  • If your background is purely domestic/household electrical wiring with zero interest in engines, plant, or industrial systems, this role is unlikely to be the right fit.
