About the Role

We are looking for a talented Senior PR and Communications Manager to shape, develop, and lead our PR and communication strategy to raise the profile of our lifesaving research and vital policy work, aiming for greater impact for patients. With a focus on key audiences in science, healthcare, and policy, you and your team will use media relations, partnerships, and public-facing platforms to grow our reach and influence.

Responsibilities

Lead and develop the research and policy communications strategy.
Deliver integrated PR campaign plans to build awareness and understanding among key audiences.
Lead and develop two direct reports, establishing the team as experts in research communications.
Provide strategic support across the charity.
Be proactive in seizing opportunities to react to the news agenda and respond to potential issues or risks.
Work collaboratively with colleagues and build relationships for success within the Communications and Engagement team.

Requirements

Significant experience in national media relations and reputation management.
Successful track record in delivering sustained media coverage for medical research and health policy stories.
Strong demonstrable experience of transforming complex scientific information into engaging copy and content for a lay audience.
Brilliant stakeholder management skills.
Experience of working with researchers, organizations in the life sciences sector (public and private), senior leadership, and journalists.
An understanding of and interest in current and emerging health policy issues.
