About the Role

The Data Centre Technician will ensure overall availability and reliability of data centre operations, involving hardware and network diagnostics, physical repair, and maintenance. This role includes root cause analysis of failures, training internal teams, and developing documentation or scripts for server and networking hardware. The position requires responding to on-site equipment failures within 60 minutes while on-call and up to 10% travel.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data centre operations.
  • Perform hardware and network diagnostics.
  • Conduct physical repair of hardware and network issues.
  • Maintain data centre operations to ensure service availability.
  • Perform root cause analysis of failures.
  • Train internal teams on data centre operations and procedures.
  • Develop documentation or scripts to update server and networking hardware.

Requirements

  • Computer Hardware experience, including troubleshooting and assembling.
  • Linux Operating System experience.
  • Ability to regularly transport and position equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods and maneuver in cramped or elevated spaces.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring fine motor skills for handling small hardware components and cables.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule within a 24/7 environment, including participating in a rotating on-call shift.
  • Excellent time management, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and react quickly to issues.
  • Ability to perform essential job duties in environments with fluctuating temperatures ranging from 60°F to 90°F.
  • Must be able to respond to on-site equipment failures within 60 minutes while scheduled on-call.
  • Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time to other locations as required.
  • Must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) or eligible to access export controlled information without authorization, or eligible and likely to obtain the required export authorization.
