About the Role

Q3 Contracting, a division of Primoris Services Corporation, is seeking Design Technicians to create new distribution and service designs for gas and electrical facilities. This role requires a self-motivated individual with strong problem-solving and time management skills, focused on meeting deadlines. The position offers an excellent opportunity to start a career in utility design, CAD, or mapping with a reputable company, and training will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Act as primary point of contact and liaison between customers, construction, and utility providers.
  • Provide cost-effective designs and customer service while balancing regulations and engineering standards.
  • Design facilities for new and existing customers according to their construction standards.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings to determine job scopes.
  • Manage and report on multiple projects from start to finish.
  • Collaborate with area engineers, customers, and local division support to meet deadlines.
  • Obtain permits and easements in accordance with agency requirements.
  • Execute contracts and agreements in compliance with administrative instructions and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate with customers, vendors, and supervisors on all aspects of jobs.
  • Provide cost-effective estimates to customers using standardized documents.
  • Schedule and attend on-site meetings with customers to determine site-specific requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of GIS or similar mapping software is required.
  • Must possess and maintain an appropriate and valid Driver’s License.
  • Bilingual Spanish skills desired but not required.
  • Must be comfortable and effective working in an environment with changing demands, delays, and unexpected situations.
  • Ability to maintain and protect confidential information.

Salary/Compensations

  • $24 – 25/ hour
