About the Role

You’ll be part of a multi-faceted team flexing across surface area ownership, and acting as a guardian on our core foundations. As a product designer, you'll be involved with the end-to-end product development process, from brainstorming to launch. You'll use a balance of strategic thinking, product principles, systems design, and strong visual design skills to iterate and innovate on the Discord product. Responsibilities

Oversee the user experience from idea to market by partnering with engineers, product managers, and other cross-functional peers.
Create wire-frames, mockups, and prototypes, and assist in implementing designs to pixel perfection.
Act as the quality leader within your team, ensuring all work reflects the intended vision.
Manage personal timelines and deliverables, exercising sound judgment in prioritizing tasks.
Act as a leader within your immediate team, influencing the strategy and scope of work.
Collaborate with designers across organizations in sprints to ensure scalable and consistent user experiences.
Proactively present and communicate designs to organizational leadership, immediate team, and design peers to gather feedback and build consensus.
Routinely share work with the design discipline and executive leadership, acting as the domain expert for the product area.
Test, learn, and iterate on all work in collaboration with product peers.
Meaningfully use, maintain, and contribute components to the Design System library.

Requirements

5+ years of experience designing modern consumer-focused products.
Experience as the design lead of multiple product teams.
Highly proficient using Figma.
Proficiency with a high-fidelity prototyping tool (e.g., Protopie, Framer, Origami).
High level of skill in crafting quality visual designs with an eye for creating delight.
Working understanding and curiosity of AI-assisted design workflows.
Possess the design judgment to know when AI output needs human refinement before shipping.
A portfolio showcasing work where you were the primary designer on projects for both desktop and mobile.
Frequent personal use of Discord, with a preference for those with direct use of the gaming space/experience.
Proactively form ideas and communicate them through various formats (documents, prototypes, presentations).
Collaboratively guide the product vision and achieve it through design explorations, documentation, and presentations.
Ownership mindset with a bias towards action, driving projects and decisions forward.
Maintain low ego with a focus on progress and growth.
Experience working with a design system/library.
