About the Role
First Resonance is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to architect and scale backend services and AWS cloud infrastructure for their ION Factory OS. This role involves writing production-grade application code, optimizing cloud footprint, and building elegant APIs while managing Kubernetes clusters and AWS environments.
Responsibilities
- Build, scale, and maintain high-performance backend services and APIs.
- Own the relationship between the application layer and AWS infrastructure.
- Evaluate and evolve backend and cloud architecture for growth.
- Establish and improve reliability practices at application and infrastructure levels.
- Identify systemic bottlenecks and lead optimization initiatives.
- Create scalable primitives to enable faster, lower-risk code shipping.
- Coach engineers on backend best practices, operational maturity, and cloud architecture.
- Lead by example through hands-on delivery.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Proven track record of shipping production-grade backend code and owning infrastructure.
- Strong hands-on coding skills in modern backend languages (e.g., Python, Go, Node.js).
- Deep AWS Expertise: Demonstrated experience building, deploying, and managing complex systems on AWS (EC2, EKS/ECS, RDS, VPCs, IAM, etc.) using Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform).
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, relational databases, caching, message queues, and API design.
- Track record of leading large technical initiatives across teams or a complex codebase.
