About the Role

A STS Compensation & Benefits Senior Associate executes and assists with tasks related to benchmarking and market analysis for executive and employee compensation, incentive plan design, performance management programs, job description preparation, executive talent planning, and Board of Directors projects.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies situations requiring research and provides an outline of the issue and appropriate sources.
  • Analyzes researched facts and sources.
  • Composes detailed reports of research findings.
  • Researches and assists with compensation planning and/or benchmarking for executive compensation models.
  • Ensures clients comply with applicable authorities while identifying options for minimizing compensation-related tax and reporting burdens.
  • Obtains required client information.
  • Accomplishes basic tasks and documents/organizes work product for review.
  • Reviews SEC filings, survey data, and expert briefs to provide clients with creative compensation opportunities that promote shareholders’ interests.
  • Monitors tax and regulatory actions regarding executive compensation rules and advises clients on compliance strategies.
  • Assists in preparing studies of market practices and tax/regulatory activities to identify alternative courses of action for clients.
  • Develops an understanding of the impact of clients’ business objectives on compensation strategy development.
  • Supervises the day-to-day workload and reviews work of Comp & Ben Associates and Interns.
  • Ensures Comp & Ben Associates and Interns are trained on relevant software.
  • Assists in the professional development of Comp & Ben Associates and Interns.
  • Delivers periodic performance feedback and completes performance evaluations for Comp & Ben Associates and Interns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources, or other relevant field required.
  • Two (2) or more years of prior work experience in compensation and/or strategic service consulting required.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word, preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Research skills associated with analyzing company performance and industry trends.
  • Ability to successfully interact with professionals at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Solid organizational skills.
  • Ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details.
  • Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environment.
  • Capable of effectively managing a team of professionals and delegating work assignments.
  • Capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and client personnel.
  • Ability to encourage team environment on engagements and contribute to the professional development of assigned personnel.
  • Moderate knowledge and understanding of legislative process regarding tax policy.
