About the Role
The Institute on Aging (IOA) is seeking a dedicated professional to join our Primary Care Clinic team. This role focuses on providing direct personal care and clinical assistance to older adults and individuals with disabilities, helping them maintain their health, independence, and quality of life while supporting our innovative healthcare models.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care and assistance including bathing, peri-care, and grooming
- Assist participants with eating, ambulating, and transferring in and out of bed
- Perform clinical tasks within Medical Assistant scope, including blood draws and skin tests
- Prepare participants for visits with MD/RN staff
- Administer oral medications
- Collect and document vital signs and biological samples
- Maintain clinic supply inventory and organization
- Provide behavioral and emotional support to participants
- Ensure clinic areas remain clean and safe
- Document participant status and progress in electronic medical records
- Participate in staff conferences and meetings
- Assist in training and orientation of new staff and volunteers
- Promote positive public relations with participants and families
- Provide back-up administrative support as needed
Requirements
- Graduation from a certified Medical Assistant program
- Interest and willingness to work in a multilingual, multicultural environment
- Knowledge of the community served
- Current or prior experience in phlebotomy
- Ability to lift, transfer, push, pull, maneuver, and reposition 35 lbs
- Ability to reach, bend, and walk
- Ability to perform five-finger manipulations
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including Saturdays
