About the Role
Brockport Home Systems Ltd. is seeking a strategic and experienced Production Supervisor (Day Shift) to lead the day-to-day operations of the production department, ensuring production schedules, quality standards, safety requirements, and operational objectives are met. This role fosters a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop production employees to achieve productivity, quality, and safety objectives.
- Execute daily production schedules to meet customer delivery commitments while maximizing labour and equipment efficiency.
- Monitor production performance and implement corrective actions to address quality, productivity, and operational issues.
- Promote and maintain a safe workplace by ensuring compliance with company policies, health and safety legislation, and safe work procedures.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate employees while providing ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance management.
- Partner with Production Planning, Maintenance, Quality, Purchasing, Warehouse, and Design teams to resolve production issues and ensure efficient workflow.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, productivity, and cost effectiveness.
- Maintain accurate production records, reports, and operational metrics.
- Review and approve employee time records and attendance.
- Manage employee relations matters, including attendance, performance, discipline, and conflict resolution, in accordance with company policies and the collective agreement.
- Participate in investigations relating to safety, quality, and operational incidents, implementing corrective actions where required.
Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience leading employees in a unionized manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of Ontario Employment Standards Act (ESA), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), and labour relations principles.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and production documentation.
- Ability to stand and walk throughout the production facility for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, climbing stairs, and working around production equipment.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) while in production areas.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada. International applicants require a valid work permit.
Skills
- Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and ERP/MRP systems.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement training.
- Production planning and capacity management experience.
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting experience.
- Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) certification or health and safety leadership training.
