Seeking an early-career reporter to cover New York City politics for the City Hall bureau and compile the First Read newsletter. This role offers the opportunity to refine magazine writing and breaking news skills while reporting on City Hall dynamics and key personalities.
Responsibilities
- Compile the First Read newsletter daily from 4:30 a.m. to 6 a.m.
- Produce quick-hit stories and daily reports on the New York City Council, mayoral administration, and elections
- Pitch and write 1-2 in-depth magazine stories on New York City politics and policy monthly
Requirements
- Demonstrated curiosity about the New York City political landscape
- Meticulous fact-checking skills
- Dedication to the craft of writing
- 1-2 years experience covering political news in New York is a plus
- Residency in the New York City area
