About the Role

Square Care Medical Group is seeking an experienced Molecular Laboratory Manager to oversee the daily operations of our new laboratory in Suffern, NY. This role involves supervising, training, and ensuring the competency of laboratory personnel, performing test verifications and validations, and managing the overall quality, efficiency, and safety of the laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Supervise molecular technicians and laboratory assistants in specimen accessioning, performance, and processing.
• Plan, assign, and direct laboratory workflow, providing backup as needed.
• Acquire and maintain all necessary state and federal licenses, including CAP accreditation.
• Define, coordinate, and monitor the quality assurance program, ensuring compliance and up-to-date quality control reports.
• Prepare for CAP and other inspections.
• Mentor and support direct reports, identifying and implementing necessary training programs.
• Oversee laboratory staffing, including interviewing, hiring, training, and performance management.
• Maintain medical laboratory equipment performance by establishing quality standards, developing procedures, and ensuring compliance with replacement, service, and repair schedules.
• Develop the annual budget and manage department costs and resources to adhere to the budget.
• Oversee the financial aspects of the laboratory, ensuring timely bill payments.
• Maintain laboratory supply inventory by monitoring stock levels, anticipating needs, and managing orders and receipt of supplies.
• Maintain medical laboratory productivity by monitoring workload, identifying peak and slack periods, and making operational or staffing adjustments.
• Resolve problems through interaction with clients via phone or other communication methods.
• Participate in meetings, attend staff meetings and applicable training, and complete special projects.
• Responsible for the overall performance of the accessioning, molecular, and genetic departments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in molecular microbiology and/or genetics.
• Experience with Hologic/Gen-Probe Panther Instrumentation preferred.
• ASCP certification in Molecular Biology (MB) preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in medical technology, chemical or biological science required.
