About the Role

As our new Senior Security Specialist, you will play a critical role in advancing Altus Group's security maturity by strengthening our security operations, expanding our offensive security capabilities, and improving how we detect and respond to emerging threats. Working across security engineering, threat intelligence, incident response, and cloud security, you will identify opportunities to improve detection, automate processes, mature security technologies, and strengthen our overall security posture.

Responsibilities

  • Advance our security engineering roadmap by improving security engineering practices, enhancing detection and response capabilities, and evolving security technologies.
  • Identify opportunities to automate processes, improve visibility, and build more resilient security operations.
  • Lead offensive security initiatives by maturing offensive security capabilities, leading threat hunting activities, advancing the purple team program, and supporting adversary emulation and complex incident investigations.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentor analysts, and strengthen the ability to detect and respond to emerging threats.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement by contributing to the AI security roadmap, evaluating emerging technologies, and introducing new ideas to protect the business.
  • Influence the security roadmap and lead initiatives that deliver lasting value across the organization.

Requirements

  • Experience across security engineering and security operations.
  • Ability to solve complex technical challenges and strengthen an organization's security capabilities.
  • Comfort acting as a senior technical escalation point, leading engineering initiatives, and balancing operational priorities with long-term improvements.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise infrastructure, including networking, operating systems, DNS, firewalls, and cloud environments.
  • Hands-on experience securing cloud environments, including Azure, Entra ID, AWS, and SaaS platforms.
  • Understanding of modern identity, infrastructure, and cloud security principles.
  • Ability to implement and continuously improve security controls across complex technology environments.
  • Experience with threat hunting, incident response, adversary emulation, and detection engineering.
  • Strong understanding of cyber threat intelligence and frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK.
  • Comfort analyzing threat intelligence, understanding attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs), and applying that knowledge within a security operations environment.
  • Ability to define priorities, solve complex problems independently, and take ownership of meaningful initiatives.
  • Effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to build strong relationships across Security Operations, Engineering, and leadership teams.
  • Ability to mentor others, collaborate across functions, and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying pace with new technologies, evolving cyber threats, and emerging security practices.
