About the Role

RSM’s Finance as a Service (FaaS) practice is looking for skilled professionals to join us at the Associate level. FaaS blends the best of both worlds by providing candidates with career growth opportunities similar to public accounting firms, while operating in private company environments daily. We provide accounting, technology, and consulting services to private, lower middle market clients with revenues from $0 to $100 million, acting as their accounting department. This position involves working to deadlines on accounting activities like month-end close, financial reporting, year-end audit support, and budget/forecasting support, while learning and using our cloud-based technology stack. Associates will interact with clients (CEO, COO, CFO, VP of Finance, Controller, etc.) and other contacts. We operate in a team-based environment and have a proven track record of delivering exceptional client value.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the key point of contact for clients regarding Purchase to Pay, Order to Cash, and Month End Close cycles.
  • Lead client accounts payable and accounts receivable teams.
  • Process and record journal entries for revenue, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accrued expenses, payroll, and other month-end close areas accurately and timely.
  • Understand the purpose of reconciliations and prepare bank and general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Prepare client monthly financial statements, including month-over-month variance analysis and/or actual-to-budget analysis.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to enhance clients' monthly operations and suggest process improvements.
  • Define and document repeatable methodologies with appropriate tools and templates for future client use.
  • Understand the technology stack and identify additional add-on processes, systems, modules, and integrations to drive month-end close efficiencies.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's in accounting/finance is required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must (proactively communicate status, issues, conflicts, and priorities up, down, and across the engagement team).
  • Ability to balance multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt to change effectively.
