About the Role
At Regions, the Software Engineer oversees application development, modification, and maintenance of applications. This position monitors system applications, ensures systems run smoothly, and creates reports and other documentation outlining findings/solutions. This position sits within Regions' Technology department.
Responsibilities
- Oversees development and installation of new hardware and software
- Installs and configures systems and other software
- Tests installed software for malfunction detection
- Identifies and resolves business systems issues
- Designs and deploys new applications and enhancements to existing applications, software, and operation systems
- Measures effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems
- Develops and implements strategies to improve systems
- Monitors and tests system performance
- Maintains full ownership of a process typically
- Ensures compliance with risk management programs, rules and regulations, and cybersecurity practices; identifies opportunities for and supports process improvements; applies disciplined change management practices
- May act as a procedural expert
- May lead the work of junior level associates
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field
- Five (5) years of experience
- 6+ years of strong hands-on experience in Python development using Python, Django
- 2 plus years of hands-on Tableau experience building and maintaining reports and dashboards
- 4+ Experience building scalable and maintainable backend systems and APIs
- 2+ Experience designing and developing high data throughput, performant, and secure full stack applications
- 2+ Experience with Kafka for event driven architectures
- 6+ years of experience working with RDBMS systems
- Strong hands-on experience with Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL
- Experience in schema design, query optimization
- 3+ years of experience with containerization using OpenShift or AWS
- Experience deploying and managing applications in cloud environments
- Strong hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions and Harness
- Experience building automated pipelines for continuous integration and deployment
- Solid understanding of application architecture and distributed system design
- Understanding of cloud native patterns and scalable deployment strategies
- Strong knowledge of software design principles and enterprise integration patterns
- Experience writing clean, maintainable, and testable code
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
- Hands on experience using GitHub Copilot or similar AI assisted development tools
- Strong awareness of latest trends in AI and their application in software development
- Strong ownership mindset with a results driven approach
- Experience working independently and owning end to end delivery
- Proven ability to lead and mentor junior developers
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
- Experience with Gherkin and Behave BDD Python framework
- Experience with Snowflake
- Frontend development experience using ReactJS
- Experience working with Celery
- Familiarity with Hashicorp Vault for secrets management
