About the Role
Support the Head of Investments in formulating and implementing investment strategy, optimizing strategic asset allocation, ensuring robust asset-liability management, overseeing third-party managers, and preparing board and committee reports.
Responsibilities
- Formulate the optimal strategic mix of asset classes and mandates to drive desired risk and return profiles.
- Ensure effective asset-liability management, including optimizing FX and duration management.
- Lead the selection and investment oversight of external managers.
- Set and review guidelines and processes for effective strategy execution.
- Integrate responsible investment principles into strategic asset allocation and manager selection.
- Monitor and challenge manager performance and compliance.
- Prepare detailed reports for the Board and Committees.
- Lead day-to-day relationships with investment managers.
- Leverage investment manager relationships for insights on opportunities and risks.
- Foster strong relationships with treasury, reserving, capital, and wider finance teams.
- Deliver and present papers to the Investment and Risk & Solvency Committees.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting to the Investment Committee, Board, and other governance forums.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to succession planning.
Requirements
- A background in investment management, strategy or manager oversight roles preferably within the insurance sector with asset-liability management experience.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, able to present complex information to senior stakeholders.
- Expert proficiency in performance and risk systems (e.g. Aladdin, PowerBI) and regulatory reporting.
- Ability to challenge and interrogate managers’ capital market views and portfolio construction.
- Deep understanding of the Lloyd’s insurance market regulatory landscape.
- CFA or FIA qualified.
