About the Role

Lead and shape the future of global VAT compliance and reporting as a Director within RSM UK's Global VAT Compliance & Reporting (GVCR) team. This high-impact leadership role involves driving operational excellence, scaling delivery capability, enhancing client experience, and influencing the future direction of managed compliance services in a complex international tax and regulatory landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Project Management function, setting strategic direction, operating model, and delivery standards for global compliance engagements.
  • Take ownership of the successful delivery of complex, multi-jurisdictional VAT compliance and e-invoicing projects.
  • Track and report client deadlines to ensure on-time delivery and premium service.
  • Drive operational excellence by identifying opportunities for process improvement, scalability, automation, governance, and client experience enhancement.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for new client engagements and escalation point for team issues.
  • Oversee the onboarding and implementation of new clients, managing risk, resources, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Coordinate internal teams for efficient and effective handling of new client engagements.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for delivery, operational, and client-related matters, proactively managing risk.
  • Oversee financial management, including cost management, billing procedures, and monthly reporting.
  • Own commercial performance across client accounts, including budgeting, profitability, utilization, forecasting, and recovery management.
  • Act as a liaison between the department and other business units within RSM to enhance collaboration.
  • Build and maintain strong senior client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing project management teams, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Support business growth initiatives by contributing to proposals, client pitches, and service development.
  • Drive consistency and governance across project delivery methodologies, reporting frameworks, KPIs, and service quality standards.
  • Champion innovation and continuous improvement, including the adoption of technology-enabled solutions and automation.

Requirements

  • Significant Project Management experience (10+ years).
  • Experience working within the professional services sector.
  • Line management experience.
  • Significant experience leading complex project or programme management functions within tax compliance, professional services, financial services, or a related international environment.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience managing financial performance, operational metrics, and client profitability.
  • Proven ability to manage large-scale, cross-border client engagements with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • Effective time management and prioritization, deadline-driven.
  • Proactive approach to identifying work and potential issues, self-motivated to resolve and suggest improvements.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise with clients and colleagues at all levels.
  • Ability to tailor communication approach depending on individual and context.
  • Working knowledge of Excel is essential.
  • Ability to work closely and collaborate with peers to achieve common goals.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to deliver upon changing priorities and requirements.
