About the Role
Lumafield is seeking an AI/ML Application Engineer with customer-facing experience to help clients achieve business outcomes using CT-generated data. This role involves developing, testing, and implementing machine learning models within customer environments for defect detection, dimensional analysis, anomaly detection, and process control. The position requires a blend of customer interaction, including scoping and deploying ML applications, and internal platform development, contributing to the company's AI/ML strategy.
Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and deploy machine learning models using 2D and 3D CT data for customer inspection use cases.
- Manage the full model lifecycle with customers, from data preparation and training to deployment, monitoring, and retraining.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to define ML deliverables, timelines, and success criteria.
- Translate customer needs into product capabilities by partnering with Product Management and Software Engineering.
- Contribute to Lumafield's internal AI/ML strategy, including model evaluation and deployment standards.
- Produce technical documentation, such as model documentation, validation memos, and customer reports.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional experience in building ML models, with expertise in applied computer vision on image or volumetric data.
- Hands-on experience with MLOps, including deploying, monitoring, and retraining ML models.
- Experience translating business and engineering problems into ML solutions for non-ML stakeholders.
- Comfort working in engineering and manufacturing environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical results to diverse audiences.
- Proven track record of shipping practical and impactful ML models.
- Willingness to travel approximately 30% to customer sites.
