About the Role
Design conversational experiences for Spotify's AI-driven products, focusing on natural, useful, and distinctly Spotify interactions. This role blends writing and system design, allowing for experimentation and definition of next-generation product conversations.
Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end conversational experiences, including dialogue flows, turn-taking, state and context handling, error recovery, and multi-turn interactions.
- Engineer and refine prompts to guide generative and conversational features, shaping model behavior for accurate and reliable outputs.
- Translate product requirements into conversational system design, defining model interpretation of intent, context retention, and flow decisions.
- Prototype with large language models to understand behaviors, constraints, and failure modes, and use findings to enhance experiences.
- Build evaluation frameworks to measure and improve conversation quality, accuracy, task completion, and user impact.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (product managers, engineers, researchers, designers, content design) to integrate AI systems into human-centered products.
- Define guardrails for safe and reliable model behavior in AI-driven interactions.
- Elevate conversation design craft through guiding peers and contributing to shared patterns, evaluation methods, and documentation.
Requirements
- Technically literate and curious, comfortable with LLMs, APIs, and structured formats like JSON, YAML, or Python.
- Experienced in testing and improving conversational systems or prompts using data, feedback, and experimentation.
- Energized by ambiguity, creativity, and defining new interaction paradigms in the AI landscape.
- Strong writer and editor with excellent editorial judgment applied to conversational systems.
- Strong cross-functional collaborator balancing technical feasibility with creative vision.
- Familiar with accessibility, localization, regulatory compliance, and safety in digital experiences.
