About the Role

A prominent UHNW family seeks a sophisticated, tech-savvy, and legally compliant bilingual House Manager to oversee daily operations, financial administration, and staff management of their premium estate in the United Kingdom. This role requires bridging communication between Chinese-speaking Principals and a multi-cultural domestic team, vendors, and authorities, with a focus on digital-first operations, SOPs, and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee domestic payroll, National Insurance contributions, and tax filings.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with UK Employment Law, including drafting and executing employment contracts and NDAs.
  • Manage estate bills, supplier contracts, and council taxes.
  • Implement monthly meter-reading protocols to eliminate estimated billing errors.
  • Audit household operational expenditures and review service level agreements.
  • Restructure housekeeping, nanny, and culinary teams into a modern Two-Week Rota Cover System.
  • Ensure adequate out-of-hours, evening, and Sunday coverage.
  • Break down internal silos and communication barriers within staff.
  • Establish clear organizational hierarchies and daily duties.
  • Introduce centralized, shared digital calendars and scheduling tools for staff visibility.
  • Hold concise daily briefing sessions with department heads.
  • Implement and maintain asset-tracking applications for inventory management.
  • Transition to automated replenishment for household goods and supplies.
  • Translate complex UK legal, financial, and administrative data into visual, bilingual dashboards.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the Principals, handling lifestyle requests with discretion and confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Native-level or fully bilingual fluency in English and Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese), both written and spoken.
  • Ability to communicate complex UK administrative and legal matters in simple, respectful Chinese.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of proven experience running fully-staffed UHNW estates or boutique luxury hotels within the United Kingdom.
  • Experience managing a multi-child (school-aged) household is highly advantageous.
  • Solid, practical understanding of UK Employment Law, HMRC regulations for domestic staff, health & safety compliance, and UK utility management.
  • Expert proficiency in modern property management software, collaborative digital tools, and inventory management applications.
  • Assertive yet empathetic leadership style.
  • Proven ability to unite fragmented teams, resolve workplace conflicts, and command authority while maintaining a service-oriented mindset.
