About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on, technically driven process engineer to support the development of assembly processes in the field of micro-optics related to co-packaged optics. This role is embedded in the Technology and New Product Introduction (NPI) environment, focusing on prototype setups, pilot lines, and early-stage manufacturing systems where processes are still evolving and require fast iteration and validation.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the key interface between product design, system engineering, and prototype machine/setup execution, ensuring that assembly, alignment, and test processes are translated into flexible, robust, and scalable solutions.
  • Drive new product introductions from prototype to mass production.
  • Act as process developer in cross-functional teams to prototype, develop, test, and release products and processes in NPI environment.
  • Own key alignment and assembly setups, lead their continuous improvement, and establish early-stage pilot line assembly at small scale.
  • Apply structured problem-solving methods (FMEA, DMAIC, DoE, KT).
  • Select components and develop processes based on customer requirements.
  • Document process development to enable effective handover to engineering and seamless transfer into mass production.
  • Stay current with fiber optic technologies and advanced metrology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, Physics, Electronics, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of industry experience in a related or similar technology field.
  • Proven success in NPI projects from initial prototype to mass production.
  • Strong hands-on and R&D skills in building prototypes, troubleshooting, and sample preparation.
  • Knowledge in mechanical or optomechanical assembly technology or advanced precision alignment and bonding.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and Six Sigma tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
