About the Role
The Claims Automation Developer will support key claims activities within the Underwriting and Claims Solutions team in Australia. This role involves developing and implementing an underwriting and claims proposition aligned with client needs and the company's strategic focus, as well as assisting with the management of insurance and partner clients.
Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of automated claims solutions in ANZ by working closely with PL Re, UnderwriteMe and client teams.
- Contribute across key phases of delivery, including requirements gathering, workshops, testing, training and implementation readiness.
- Act as PL Re’s claims and insurance subject matter expert within the project team, providing practical input on implementation decisions and claims rules.
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders to support coordinated delivery and effective client transition.
- Support the translation of agreed claims requirements into practical rules and ruleset changes for client implementations.
- Review and refine claims rules to ensure they are workable, aligned to client requirements and consistent with implementation objectives.
- Develop working knowledge of rules configuration in The Engine to support effective rules review, testing and issue resolution.
- Document rule decisions, assumptions and learnings to support implementation governance and internal capability uplift.
- Play an active role in developing innovative claims solutions for key PMF clients, fostering a client-focused culture.
- Collaborate with Strategic Analytics, UnderwriteMe, Pricing and Client Solutions with a Partnership Team mentality to produce desired outcomes.
- Contribute to market strategy by supporting key marketing, business development, and pricing activities, including the use of UnderwriteMe data.
- Maintain a strong knowledge of broader PL Re reinsurance claims solutions, and contribute to relevant client opportunities.
- Support client engagement, training and knowledge transfer across PL Re’s broader reinsurance solutions activity, including but not limited to CRE implementations.
- Provide practical support to help clients adopt and use underwriting and claims solutions effectively, and maintain a positive client experience.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a life and disability claims environment within an Australian insurance or reinsurance business, including experience at a senior level where relevant.
- Demonstrated Australian market experience is essential, including familiarity with Australian life insurance products, claims practices and industry requirements.
- Experience handling major Australian life insurance products, including Life cover, Total and Permanent Disablement, Critical Illness and Income Protection.
- Detailed understanding of Australian life insurance business, claims processes, and regulatory requirements, including LICOP.
- Strong analytical skills and interest in systems and technology.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, or similar business tools.
