About the Role

Reporting to the Co-General Manager, the Senior Director of Marketing is responsible for the strategic vision and execution of marketing campaigns across the label’s entire roster. You will lead a multi-disciplinary team to build cultural moments around music releases, ensuring that every album, single, and tour is supported by forward and creative thinking marketing plans that maximize consumption, fan engagement, and revenue. This person is responsible for leading the Marketing, Social, Audience and Creative teams and for owning the overall strategy for fan connection across all digital channels, including social platforms, newsletters, and other direct-to-fan touchpoints.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development and execution of comprehensive marketing campaigns for all releases, including digital, social, retail, and media.
  • Work directly with artists and managers to define their visual identity, voice, and brand positioning in a crowded marketplace.
  • Lead and mentor a team of Marketing Managers and Digital strategists.
  • Foster a high-performance culture that balances creativity with accountability.
  • Manage marketing budgets, ensuring efficient fund allocation.
  • Provide guidance to the team on how to leverage streaming data, social sentiment, and sales metrics to optimize campaigns in real-time.
  • Secure and oversee high-level brand partnerships and experiential events.
  • Oversee Warner Music Canada’s owned social strategy and content amplification efforts.
  • Guide and educate teams on discovery strategies that drive long-term engagement and sustained streaming growth.
  • Lead fan segmentation frameworks and collaborate across the business to test and optimize strategies that grow super fans.
  • Lead and coach Marketing Managers to deliver high-impact, results-driven campaigns for priority projects.
  • Lead campaign post-mortems to extract actionable insights across consumption, discovery, and audience development.
  • Maintain strong relationships with digital and media partners across the industry to maximize partnership opportunities.
  • Stay current on industry developments, partner initiatives, market trends, competitor activity, and evolving digital consumer behavior.
  • Collaborate with the Data & Insights team to analyze social and consumption data, forecast growth, and shape strategy.

Requirements

  • 7 years in music marketing or entertainment within a senior leadership role.
  • Deep understanding of the modern streaming ecosystem, TikTok/short-form video trends, and the nuances of the global music market.
  • Exceptional ability to pitch complex marketing strategies to high-profile artists and stakeholders who may have a purely creative (non-business) focus.
  • Ability to read and interpret data across various sources to help make informed decisions.
  • Ability to easily collaborate with cross-functional team members and colleagues, internally and externally.
  • Versatile – highly adaptable in a demanding, fast-moving, ever-evolving environment while being able to approach challenging situations in a mature calm manner.
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of organization and discipline.
  • In-depth knowledge of all social media platforms and analytics & streaming services.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with added attention to details and deadlines.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills.
