About the Role

Western Sydney University's School of Social Sciences seeks qualified social workers for casual academic roles, supervising Social Work students on placement. This role involves providing external supervision, facilitating group and individual sessions, and conducting online placement visits to offer feedback on student progress. It's an opportunity to contribute to a growing Social Work program and support the next generation of practitioners.

Responsibilities

  • External supervision of Social Work students on placement
  • Conduct group and individual supervision sessions with students
  • Participate in two 30-minute online placement visits per supervised student to provide feedback on progress

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years’ experience working in the field
  • Eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
  • Minimum of five years’ post-qualifying experience
  • Demonstrated experience of social work student supervision
  • Understanding of the requirements for social work placements as per the AASW
  • Ability to work collaboratively within teaching teams
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to negotiate, resolve conflict, and build productive and harmonious workplace relationships with students
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence and establish effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated organisational and administrative skills, including coordinating and completing documentation to adhere to firm and competing deadlines
  • Must provide evidence of working rights in Australia at the time of application
