About the Role

As part of the Regional Security Services team, the Healthcare Protection Officer (HPO) is responsible for the physical and personal security for members, staff, and visitors within health care client facilities. This includes responding to emergency situations, preserving order, and enforcing regulations related to personnel, visitors, and premises. The HPO protects staff and property from theft or damage, or persons from hazards and interference, including the potential for workplace violence. The HPO will partner with security and clinical leaders to establish a unified care team to identify and mitigate security and workplace violence risks.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to crimes in progress and take appropriate action
  • Make private person arrests when necessary and within policy
  • Lead Code Gray response teams
  • Lead de-escalation efforts
  • Provide a professional security presence
  • Act as a safety ambassador for the facility
  • Provide campus safety recommendations
  • Liaison with administrative and clinical leadership
  • Establish and maintain a good working relationship with local law enforcement
  • Serve as the facility subject matter expert on the Prevention of Workplace Violence
  • Respond to and investigate incidents of workplace violence
  • Provide PWV training to all staff
  • Stay current on training and trends in the PWV field
  • Lead and support threat management investigations
  • Mitigate potential threats through collaboration with key stakeholders and the Threat Management Team
  • Provide Prevention of Workplace Violence training to staff
  • Train and evaluate new officers

Requirements

  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Available for unplanned travel

Salary/Compensations

  • Starting: $36/hr
  • After 3 months: $38/hr
  • 4 months after: $40/hr
  • Full rate: $40/hr
