About the Role
The Assistant Store Manager assists the Store Manager in training and developing the barista team and managing store performance. This position is supplemental for achieving the store's daily and weekly operational expectations, leading by example through excellent customer service, and delegating/executing all necessary tasks for the store to run efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Effectively demonstrate excellent customer service by setting a high-performance standard in skills, knowledge, and customer navigation.
- Provide regular coaching to the staff on elevating performance regarding barista skills and customer service.
- Support the Store Manager in hiring efforts and disciplinary actions and assist in first-round candidate screening.
- Support Store Manager in scheduling and filling in for unexpected shift absences.
- Collaborate with Store Manager in setting and fostering store culture.
- Ensure the barista team meets all operating standards.
- Complete all training and development documentation and reporting delegated by the Store Manager.
- Give constructive, in-the-moment feedback to baristas as it pertains to barista knowledge and skills.
- Navigate disciplinary measures with the Store Manager when performance is below company standards and assist in building improvement plans when necessary.
- Report individual progress of baristas to the Store Manager regularly and effectively collect data for reference purposes during employee evaluations.
- Ensure adherence to store systems and procedures, including shift change checklists, and putting away deliveries.
- Support the store manager in setting pars for coffee, ordering, and receiving.
- Assist in flawlessly executing all reporting throughout the week.
- Utilize waste logs to inform ordering adjustments and minimize waste.
- Be an effective leader in assisting the store manager in protecting and maintaining store assets, cleanliness, safety, and health.
- Assist in creating effective merchandising on display shelves and monitor FIFO practices.
- Use good judgment to manage resources, labor, and inventory to positively impact store performance, goal achievement, and efficiency.
