About the Role

As the Head of Retail Americas, you will be part of the Americas Direct Leadership Team, contributing to the overall Americas Direct Vision, Strategy, and Culture. You will have full accountability for directing all retail operations and staff, managing stores to maintain growth and profitability, and ensuring a seamless customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Shape Direct Retail strategy and portfolio, thinking and acting as a P&L owner.
  • Create and revisit the Dyson’s retail strategy for the Americas, including new locations, network optimization, and testing new formats.
  • Translate strategic goals into retail operational and financial plans to achieve targeted growth in customer experience, sales, and profit.
  • Influence and support the retail element of the annual budget process.
  • Review financial data and work with Store Managers to set targets for annual budgets and monthly forecasts.
  • Monitor ongoing performance and identify opportunities and gaps.
  • Implement a model of operational excellence across the Direct Retail network.
  • Develop and maintain a structured learning agenda for retail experiences.
  • Spend time on the ground with retail store teams and customers to identify business-critical issues.
  • Support Store Managers in day-to-day retail operations decisions.
  • Supervise the retail operations team and their management of ongoing store operations.
  • Ensure retail operations comply with all Security, Health, and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure Store visual merchandising is compliant with Global Creative guidelines and conduct quarterly audits.
  • Enable consumer impact, efficiency, and productivity via localization.
  • Maintain and develop innovative and cost-effective stock generation; monitor stock weekly.
  • Partner with IT regarding any required changes or upgrades to store POS or IT systems.
  • Lead and develop a team of high-performing individuals.
  • Work with the HR Business Partner to ensure people development and growth is a priority.
  • Take a lead role in building a strong customer service and sales management culture.
  • Coach Store Managers, identify skills and opportunities for development, and provide guidance on staff issues.
  • Proactively manage and review the performance and progress of Store Managers and their staff, set objectives and targets.
  • Work with the Training Manager to develop individual training plans for the team.

Requirements

  • 10 years’ management experience in retail stores required.
  • 5 years’ experience managing multiple retail stores in the US market required.
  • Experience in planning leading to operational excellence required.
  • Experience managing a P & L required.
  • Must have a high level of customer focus.
  • Ability to understand the Dyson brand and uphold its integrity.
  • Strong organizational skills, able to deal with multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be a highly motivated, enthusiastic team player, driven by creating innovative customer experience.
  • Dynamic, driven, energetic, engaging and ability to think strategically, analytically and operationally to drive strong plans and results.
  • An innovative thinker who enjoys learning and solving problems, able to successfully collaborate cross-functionally to achieve business objectives.
  • Able to motivate, inspire, and lead a growing team in an ever-changing business environment.
  • Expert people developer with an emphasis on leading vs. managing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all audiences and levels of leadership; able to build strong relationships with all types of people.
  • Comfortable engaging and collaborating with senior executives including Global C-level and shareholders.
  • Able to travel up to 50% of the time required.
  • Able to work a varied schedule including key shopping holidays, nights and weekends if needed.
  • Able to lift, push or pull up to 30lbs.
  • Experience in premium and/or electronics retail is a plus.
  • Experience in Canada market is a plus.

Salary/Compensations

  • $195,200-$244,000 annually + bonus opportunity
